Safety and Driver Verification
Last updated
Every driver we send is background-checked, licence-verified and carries a commercial badge. Every taxi in our fleet is AIS-140 compliant, with GPS tracking and an emergency panic button linked to the state monitoring system, which routes alerts to local police and emergency services. We share the driver's name and vehicle number with you before pickup, so you know exactly who's arriving and what they're driving.
If you're booking a 4 AM airport run, sending your parents to a wedding, or putting your family in a cab for a weekend in Coorg, this page is for you — read it before you book, not after something goes wrong.

How is every Amma Tours driver checked before he's put on a booking?
Every driver in our fleet is background-checked, holds a verified driving licence, and carries a commercial badge — the authorisation required under Indian law to drive a taxi for hire. We don't send a driver we haven't checked, whether it's a short local booking or a multi-day outstation trip.
What does "AIS-140 compliant" actually mean for your trip?
AIS-140 is the vehicle tracking and safety standard mandated for commercial passenger vehicles in India. In practice, it means every taxi in our fleet carries GPS tracking and an emergency panic button as fitted, standard equipment — not an optional extra. The panic button is linked to the state monitoring system, which routes an alert to local police and emergency services if it's pressed. This is fitted hardware in the vehicle, working alongside the driver, not a substitute for common sense — but it means help can be reached at the press of a button, on any trip, at any hour.
Is every vehicle legally registered and insured?
Every taxi we send is a commercially registered, yellow-board vehicle — meaning it carries the registration, fitness certificate and commercial insurance that Indian law requires for a vehicle to be legally hired out as a taxi. This isn't a bonus feature; it's the baseline that makes a vehicle legal to operate as a cab in Karnataka, and we don't put a vehicle on the road without it.
If you've booked driver hire for your own car instead of one of our taxis, the vehicle is yours, so its registration, fitness and insurance are your responsibility, and the AIS-140 tracking and panic button built into our fleet don't apply — what we provide there is a verified, background-checked driver for a car you already own.
How do I know who's actually driving my cab before they arrive?
Before pickup, we send you the driver's name and the vehicle's registration number. Match this against the person and car that show up — if either doesn't match what we told you, call us immediately on +91 88672 65700 before you get in. This is a simple check that takes ten seconds and rules out almost every impersonation risk.
How clean is the vehicle I'm getting into?
Every vehicle is cleaned and deodorised after each trip — interiors wiped down, seats and floor mats checked. Tissues and hand sanitiser are stocked in every car. Vehicles going on outstation journeys get a deeper clean before they leave, since those trips run longer and often overnight.
What happens if something goes wrong during a trip?
Two systems work together on every trip in our own fleet:
- The panic button, fitted in the vehicle under AIS-140, sends an alert straight to the state monitoring system, which routes it to local police and emergency services — this works independently of your phone, so it's there even if your phone is dead or out of signal.
- Direct contact with us. You, or anyone travelling with you, can call or WhatsApp +91 88672 65700 at any point during a trip, 24 hours a day. We can reach the driver, and where needed, we're a second point of contact for your family to check in with.
If you ever feel unsafe on a trip, use the panic button, call us, or call the police directly — in that order of speed, not preference. All three are available to you at once.
What about women travelling alone, or a family sending someone at odd hours?
The measures above aren't a separate "women's safety" add-on — they're the standard on every trip, which is the point. In practice, that means:
- You (or the person sending you) get the driver's verified name and the vehicle number before pickup, so someone else always knows exactly who you're travelling with.
- GPS tracking on the vehicle means your route can be followed in real time by anyone you choose to share it with.
- The panic button and its link to police monitoring work the same at 2 PM as they do at 2 AM.
- We operate 24 hours, so an early airport pickup or a late arrival isn't a special request — it's a normal booking, staffed the same as any other.
If you want to share your trip details with a family member as an extra step, do that in addition to the above — the driver name, vehicle number and our contact number are exactly what you need to pass on.
What should I check before I get in the cab?
A short checklist, worth thirty seconds at your pickup point:
| Check | What to look for |
|---|---|
| Driver name | Matches the name we sent you by WhatsApp or call |
| Vehicle number | Matches the registration we confirmed before pickup |
| Vehicle type | Matches what you booked (sedan, SUV, etc.) |
| Our contact | +91 88672 65700 saved in your phone before the trip starts |
If any of these don't line up, don't get in — call us first.
What's different for a driver-hire booking?
If you've hired a driver for your own car rather than booking one of our taxis, the driver is background-checked and licence-verified the same as any driver we send — but the vehicle is yours, registered privately, not on a commercial permit. That means the AIS-140 tracking, panic button and commercial insurance that come fitted in our own fleet aren't part of that vehicle. Your car's own safety features and insurance apply. We're upfront about this distinction because it's a real difference, not a technicality.
