Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data Amma Tours & Travels collects when you contact us, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the "DPDP Act"). We collect very little: essentially your name and phone number when you send us a WhatsApp enquiry, plus anonymised analytics about how visitors use this website.

Who is the Data Fiduciary
Under the DPDP Act, the entity that decides why and how personal data is processed is called the "Data Fiduciary." For this website, that is Amma Tours and Travels, trading as Amma Tours & Travels, based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. You ("the Data Principal" in DPDP terms — the individual the data is about) can reach us at ammatours2025@gmail.com or on WhatsApp at +91 88672 65700.
What we collect
We only collect data through two channels on this site:
| Source | What's collected | Why |
|---|---|---|
| WhatsApp enquiry (the "Chat on WhatsApp" links/buttons on this site) | Your name and phone number, plus whatever you type in the chat — pickup/drop points, dates, trip details | To respond to your enquiry, quote a fare, and arrange your booking |
| Website analytics (Google Analytics 4) | Pages visited, approximate location (city-level, derived from IP address), device and browser type, how you arrived at the site, and general on-site behaviour, via analytics cookies | To understand how people use the site and improve it |
We do not have a booking form, a customer account system, or online payment processing on this website. We do not collect your payment card details, ID documents, or any data through this site beyond what's listed above. If you make a payment for a trip, that happens directly with us outside this website (in person, by bank transfer, or another method we agree with you), not through this site.
How we use your data
We use your name and phone number to respond to your enquiry, confirm your booking, share driver and vehicle details before your trip, and contact you about that trip if needed. We use analytics data in aggregate, to understand which pages and services people are interested in — we don't use it to identify you individually.
We process your data on the basis of your consent — sending us a WhatsApp message, or using a "Chat on WhatsApp" link on this site, is a clear, affirmative action that we treat as consent to be contacted back about that enquiry.
How long we keep it
We keep your WhatsApp conversation and the details in it for as long as needed to complete your booking and for a reasonable period after, for our own business records — for example, in case a dispute or query comes up later. Your WhatsApp message history is otherwise governed by WhatsApp's own retention settings on your device and account. Analytics data is retained according to the retention settings in our Google Analytics 4 property. You can ask us to erase your data earlier — see "Your rights" below.
Who we share it with
We share data with two categories of third party:
- Meta / WhatsApp. When you message us on WhatsApp, that conversation runs on WhatsApp's platform, owned by Meta Platforms, Inc. Meta processes that message under its own privacy policy, which applies alongside ours whenever you use WhatsApp to contact us.
- Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand site traffic. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy. We do not sell your data to anyone, and we do not share it with any other third party for their own marketing purposes.
We may also disclose data where required by Indian law — for example, in response to a lawful request from a court, the police, or a government authority.
Your rights as a Data Principal under the DPDP Act
The DPDP Act, 2023 gives you the following rights over your personal data:
- Right to access information about the personal data we hold about you and how it's being processed.
- Right to correction and completion of your personal data if it's inaccurate or incomplete.
- Right to erasure of your personal data once it's no longer needed for the purpose it was collected for, unless we're required to keep it under law.
- Right to withdraw consent at any time — you can simply tell us you no longer want to be contacted, and we will stop, subject to any booking already in progress.
- Right to nominate another individual to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of your death or incapacity.
- Right to grievance redressal — see below.
To exercise any of these rights, contact our grievance officer using the details in the next section, or write to ammatours2025@gmail.com.
Grievance officer
As required under the DPDP Act, 2023, we have designated a grievance officer to handle questions, complaints and requests relating to your personal data:
Grievance Officer: Naveen
Contact: +91 80088 21747
If you're not satisfied with how we've handled your grievance, you have the right to file a complaint with the Data Protection Board of India, established under the DPDP Act.
